Services Offered
EVALUATION AND DIAGNOSIS
Dr. Land offers each patient a comprehensive initial 90-minute evaluation visit. During this session, she will review details of current and past symptoms, including any prior trials of medication and psychotherapy, and any related medical issues. She will review social, family, educational, employment and medical history to gain a sense of how these challenges have impacted functioning. Based on this detailed assessment, she will be able to offer treatment recommendations and planning at this appointment. She may request further laboratory work, imaging studies, or collaborative communication with other treaters. This visit may be a single consultation or the start of therapeutic work with Dr. Land.
PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY
As a physician, Dr. Land is trained to prescribe medications as an important element of mental health care. She offers appropriate medications with an emphasis on symptom relief and is firmly committed to maximizing benefits and minimizing side effects. As part of a medical team, she will communicate with other key providers to ensure continuity of care.
INDIVIDUAL PSYCHODYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
Dr. Land recognizes that the solutions to most mental health difficulties are as complex as the problems. To that end, she offers ongoing psychotherapy as a means of healing from past trauma and loss and strengthening an individual’s sense of self and capacities to achieve personal goals. Through this process, Dr. Land supports the individual in reflection and understanding of their past and present as a way to develop a more integrated, connected, joyful, and productive future self.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
One method of evidence-based therapy for managing symptoms of anxiety, panic, and mood instability is cognitive behavioral therapy. This modality employs cognitive reframing and relaxation techniques to allow an individual to achieve greater mastery over symptoms.
COUPLES AND FAMILY SYSTEM THERAPIES
With significant experience as both a clinical social worker and a physician, Dr. Land uses relational and attachment-based approaches in working with couples and families on issues including strengthening communication skills, resolving conflicts, understanding family backgrounds, managing financial issues, coping with illness and other losses, and improving emotional intimacy and relationship satisfaction.
